| Artistic gesture does not fit into our daily landscape very well. There are great heaps of crap for it to compete with. I document what happens when Nacho Cheese Doritos and expressive paint drips fight for dominance. In my work, dirty laundry is pitted against a beautifully laid wash. Elegant brush strokes wrestle with the textures of breakfast cereal. These battles are never truly resolved because every day life does not fulfill us, and the artistic gesture never really escapes the every day. |
